The Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced earlier this week all schools are set to open this September. Over the last few months, the Office of Catholic Education worked with various partners to develop a safe plan to reopen the parish and regional elementary and secondary schools within the Archdiocese.
The task force created by OCE, Catholic Schools Onward, worked with principals, nurses, business members, teachers, religious leaders, parents, board members, and central administration. Each member received guidance from the State of Pennsylvania regarding expectations to reopen, CDC guidelines, and plans from schools that already reopened. Working together in subcommittees, we will develop specific practices and precautionary measures our schools will use.
The health and safety of every student and each staff member at our schools is our top priority. We will have in-person instruction beginning in September at (school name here), with the option for students to continue learning virtually from home if desired.
"We have the capacity and are prepared to provide a virtual learning environment to the greatest extent possible if necessary," the archdiocese said.
As we learn more and more about COVID-19, we will make changes and adjust the current plan as deemed necessary. Until then, we will ensure safety precautions are taken seriously and adhered to.
