Graduating Seniors representing the 17 total high schools within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia recently came together virtually in a video put together by the Archdiocese to celebrate and unveil the total earned in scholarships by the Class of 2020. This is the third year in a row that graduating seniors were granted record-breaking scholarship dollars. The cumulative amount earned was $412,130, 607.00. Way to go seniors!
The video began with a message from Sister Maureen Lawrence McDermott, I.H.M., Ph.D., Chief Academic Officer and Superintendent of Secondary Schools for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s Office of Catholic Education, and concluded with a message from Archbishop Nelson J. Perez. In his congratulatory message, he stated:
“I am here to congratulate the [members of the] Class of 2020 who have received collectively over four hundred million dollars in scholarships to universities and colleges all over this country. They are a smart crowd, so I want to thank them for their effort and I want to thank them for their example. They are a sign of hope to us. Congratulations to each and every one of you.”
Each student was given the opportunity to share a short message, or announce their scholarships. Students also stated where they would attend college, which includes: Saint Joseph’s University; Duquesne University; University of Rochester; East Stroudsburg University; Cabrini College; Immaculata University; University of Pittsburgh; Pennsylvania State University, Schreyer Honors College; Temple University; Drexel University; Delaware County Community College; University of Notre Dame; Rennselear Polytechnic Institute; Widener University; Ursinus College; and Pennsylvania State University.
Congratulations to the Class of 2020!
